Lara Fabian, anorexia and descent into hell: “an apple cut in 7” as a meal

This is not an album that Lara Fabian has prepared for her fans for the start of the 2022 school year. Far from music, it is a book that the 52-year-old singer has offered them. On September 22, she published All published by Libre Expression. Pages over which she delivers her culinary advice, multiple recipes but above all where she confides as she has never done before. She had never admitted to having been the victim of serious eating disorders more than twenty years ago. Memories that she finally managed to put down on paper.

During “seven long years“, Lara Fabian struggled “against an animal called complex eating disorder.” A long ordeal started following a painful breakup: “I have the wrong door in love. I don’t listen to anyone” She then sinks into a descent into hell, “slowly but surely“: “I’m starting to feel bad. Very bad” she explains to the point of no return.

In New York, after tasting “a mountain of white truffle tagliatelle“, Lara Fabian makes herself vomit. The beginning of a “long desert crossing“: “I will oscillate between weeks where everything seems to be fine. Weeks where I will eat an apple cut into seven wedges for each day. A green apple on which I will plant small flags with the name of each day of the week“, she says.

This anorexia is interspersed with episodes of bulimia at the end of which Lara Fabian will end up “spend whole nights with your head in the toilet.” Fortunately for her, the artist managed to get out of it, by “desire to live and have a child“Mission succeeded: on November 20, 2007, she gave birth to a daughter, Lou, whose dad was none other than Gérard Pullicino. The two parents have since been separated, but Lara Fabian is not unhappy for all that. She now flows happy days in the arms of Gabriel di Giorgio, the man she married nine years ago and for whom she no longer counts the “I love you”.
