While the teenager is now 15 years old, Lara Fabian looks back on a time when she was only 13 years old, and already in the kitchen by her side. She then makes layered cakes topped with hand-whipped whipped cream and fresh fruit, macaroons of all kinds, fluffy pancakes like soufflés, but all “gluten free“, specifies Lara Fabian. Because the interpreter of I love you discovered that she was intolerant to gluten. “I confess that when I discovered in the most unlikely way that I had this condition, it took me a few hours, silently, to measure the impact that this news was going to have in my life.“, she reports. “VSThis disconcerting discoverycame as I struggled with a host of recurring, previously unresolved inflammatory issues.”she confessed.
A fall in the staircase at the origin of this discovery
How did she realize this? She recounts a fall down the stairs, following which she bent the cornea of her right eye, and her eye was completely swollen. In the emergency room, she was then received by a gastroenterologist, on duty that day. He asked her a multitude of questions before the ophthalmologist took over. And he then made the diagnosis: “Obviously you are gluten intolerant. Maybe even allergic.” “You imagine my head, writes Lara Fabian, in shock. The day before, I had just swallowed a large plate of pasta.” The beginning of a new life then started for the 52-year-old singer.
