Land use planning | 360 million for the implementation of the National Policy

(Quebec) The Government of Quebec announced on Monday its plan to implement the National Policy on Architecture and Land Use Planning. It has an envelope of 360.4 million.

The plan provides for “30 concrete measures and actions” including the establishment of a monitoring system to “evaluate the achievement of land use planning objectives”.

“This system will make it possible to adjust the development framework as needed to optimize its performance in order to better meet societal challenges,” reads the press release. A sum of 17.4 million will be allocated for its deployment.

Among the other sums presented, we find: $43.7 million to support the municipal sector, in particular in updating the land use and development plans of the RCMs; 16.5 million to support the creation of green and blue networks; 6.7 million for the establishment of the Bureau de la valorisation de l’architecture.

The purpose of this last measure is “to raise the architectural quality in Quebec”.

“Work will be carried out to modernize the regulatory framework in order to provide the conditions conducive to the development of an innovative and creative architecture, which relies on know-how and talent,” the statement said.

Also, 239.4 million are “planned to support the development and implementation of climate plans by municipal bodies”.

The sums presented during the announcement were already in the last budget of the Quebec government.

Municipal Affairs Minister Andrée Laforest announced the plan Monday in Victoriaville with her colleague, Culture and Communications Minister Mathieu Lacombe.
