A man and a woman in their thirties find themselves between life and death after being struck while trying to cross a road on a snowmobile on Sunday in Saint-Esprit, in Lanaudière.
The collision took place around 6:30 p.m. on Route 125, which crosses the municipality of Saint-Esprit. According to information from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), a 35-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were on a snowmobile and crossing Route 125 when they were hit by a driver.
The two victims were transported to hospital in critical condition, said Ève Brochu-Joubert, spokesperson for the SQ. The driver of the vehicle involved, a 54-year-old man, was also hospitalized but did not suffer any injuries.
A reconstructionist will go to the scene to try to clarify the circumstances of the tragedy.
