(Montreal) A man in his forties is in critical condition following an accident in Saint-Côme, in Lanaudière, early Saturday evening.

Three vehicles are involved in the accident which occurred on Route 343 around 7 p.m.
“For a reason that remains unexplained at this time, a vehicle traveling southbound deviated from its lane to hit a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. A third vehicle which was not able to slow down is also involved, ”explained the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, Marythé Bolduc.
The driver of the vehicle that strayed from its lane was in critical condition when paramedics arrived. The man was transported to a hospital, where there are fears for his life.
The other people did not require transport by ambulance.
A collision patrol officer was deployed to the scene in the evening to investigate. Route 343 has been closed in both directions between rang Grand-Beloeil and route 347.
