(Crabtree) A 49-year-old woman lost her life in a road accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Crabtree, in Lanaudière. Three other people, including a little girl, had to be hospitalized following this collision.

The accident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Chemin Saint-Jacques in Crabtree, a municipality of approximately 4,000 inhabitants located just south of Joliette. According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the impact took place in an area where the speed limit is 70 km/h.

“For a reason that is unknown, the collision between a pickup-style van and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) occurred on a curve,” said Sergeant Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the SQ.

On Sunday evening, however, it was not possible to say which of the two vehicles would have deviated from its lane to cause the accident, since the investigation was still ongoing.
