Lanaudière | Cyclist hit in Saint-Lin–Laurentides: hit-and-run offender arrested

(Saint-Lin–Laurentides) A ​​driver was arrested after fleeing the scene of a collision with a cyclist in Saint-Lin–Laurentides, in the Lanaudière region.


Fortunately, the 27-year-old cyclist’s life is not in danger.

The collision occurred Saturday evening, around 7:15 p.m., at the intersection of des Noix and Lacroix streets. Police intervention was requested quickly, emphasizing that it was a hit-and-run.

“According to initial information, the 39-year-old driver failed to make his mandatory stop,” said Adam Marineau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ). That’s when he allegedly hit the cyclist in his twenties.

“The 27-year-old man reportedly suffered serious injuries, but they are not life-threatening. Consequently, he was transported to hospital,” said Mr. Marineau.

“As for the driver, he was located not far from the scene,” he said.

The man was to be questioned by SQ investigators and faces serious charges.

“He could face charges of hit and run causing bodily harm,” according to Mr. Marineau of the SQ.

The Sûreté du Québec investigation continues.
