A septuagenarian lost his life in Berthierville, in Lanaudière, Monday morning, while he was doing mechanical work under his truck.

A 79-year-old man was found crushed under his truck on Monday morning. In all likelihood, he was doing mechanical work under the vehicle when it started to roll, said agent Nicolas Scholtus, spokesman for the Sûreté du Québec.
Police officers from the MRC D’Autray and other emergency services were called to the scene of the tragedy around 8:30 a.m. Monday. The accident occurred on rue de Laval, in Berthierville, in Lanaudière. It is a very small residential street leading to an arm of the St. Lawrence River.
The septuagenarian was extricated from under the vehicle by the fire services. His death was pronounced on the spot.
A collision investigation officer was dispatched to the scene to better understand the circumstances that led to the tragedy. A mechanical expertise will also be carried out on the van.
