Another child, who was in the same vehicle, was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he was in stable condition on Friday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The collision with a driver of a heavy truck occurred around 10:15 a.m. at the intersection of Ruisseau-Saint-Jean Nord and Louis-Philippe-Lesage roads.

According to the first elements of the investigation, the driver of the truck, a 42-year-old man, who was traveling on Louis-Philippe-Lesage Road, allegedly failed to make his mandatory stop. This would have caused the side impact with the vehicle which was carrying a man and two children, explained the spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), Nicolas Scholtus.

The truck driver was not injured.

A Hydro-Quebec pole was severed during this collision, according to the SQ. However, no breakdowns are to be reported in the sector, according to the Info-pannes website.

The traffic controllers of the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec and the coroner were notified of the accident.
