Lanaudiere | A girl dies after falling into a grain mixer

The worst happened on a family farm in Saint-Lin–Laurentides on Friday afternoon, when a little girl fell into the industrial grain mixer. She could not be saved.

Family members had to be hospitalized for nervous shock after this tragedy which struck a family farm on Côte Joseph, in Saint-Lin-Laurentides, on Friday afternoon.

“At first glance, there is no appearance of negligence or crime in this case,” said Sergeant Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

Few details have been shared about the accident, out of respect for the family, she adds. According to information made public, the parents intervened quickly on Friday to rescue their little girl, who had tipped over in the farm’s industrial grain mixer.

However, the death of the child was pronounced on the spot.

As required by protocol when a child under the age of six dies, an investigation by the SQ’s major crimes division has been opened, says Sergeant Bilodeau. An autopsy will be performed on the body of the little victim to determine the exact cause of death.
