Lanaudière | A 17-year-old girl loses her life in a head-on collision in Saint-Zénon

(Saint-Zénon) A 17-year-old girl died Friday afternoon when she lost control of her vehicle in Saint-Zénon, in Lanaudière, and collided with another vehicle. Two other young people were with her at the time of the incident, but their lives were not threatened.

The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on Chemin des Suisses, at the intersection with Chemin Brassard, in Saint-Zénon, a municipality of approximately 1,200 inhabitants located north of the Sept-Chutes regional park.

“The driver of one of the vehicles, with two passengers on board, lost control of it in a curve for an unknown reason and collided with the other vehicle which was traveling in the opposite direction,” explained Sergeant Béatrice Dorsainville, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The 17-year-old driver was transported to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. His two passengers, aged 16 and 19, suffered serious injuries, but their lives were not threatened, according to authorities.

The man behind the wheel of the other vehicle, an octogenarian, was seriously injured, but his life was not in danger either.

The provincial police force’s investigation into this matter continues. Chemin Brassard was also closed to traffic for part of the afternoon, to give SQ staff time to carry out their analysis work.
