Lafrenière gets a goal and an assist in a 4-1 Rangers win

(New York) Chris Kreider scored his 20e goal of the campaign and the New York Rangers beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 on Monday night for a third straight victory.

Ryan Strome had one goal and two assists while Alexis Lafrenière and Barclay Goodrow both had one goal and one assists for the Rangers, who have won for the fourth time in their last six outings.

Adam Fox prepared two goals for the New Yorkers, who took first in the Metropolitan Section and the NHL overall standings as in both cases they hold the tiebreaker with the Washington Capitals.

Alexandar Georgiev, who was playing his first game in two and a half weeks, turned back 33 pucks for his first win since December 10. He is 6-3-2 with a 2.72 goals against average this season.

Ryan McLeod scored the lone goal for the Oilers, who are 2-8-2 in their last 12 games after starting the campaign with a 16-5-0 record. Mikko Koskinen made 24 saves.

The Rangers shut out all-star Oilers Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl from the scoresheet. They are currently the top two scorers in the NHL.
