(Montreal) About thirty cars were destroyed by fire at the start of the night on Tuesday, when two arson attacks occurred at two different locations in the borough of Lachine, in the southwest of Montreal.
The two fires that broke out less than two hours apart did not cause any apparent injuries. At the end of the night, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) reported no arrests.
The first incident occurred around 12:40 a.m. in the courtyard of a building on 32e Avenue, in an industrial sector of the borough. At this place, about twenty cars were ravaged by fire.
The second fire broke out shortly after 2 a.m., about 3 kilometers east, at a commercial establishment on Pacific Street.
The commercial building was damaged by the flames, as were a dozen vehicles.
The police did not know at the end of the night if a link could be established between the two events. Security perimeters have been erected so that the investigators of the SPVM arson squad can undertake their work.
