(Montreal) A man who allegedly left a commercial establishment in southwestern Montreal while trying to take an item he hadn’t paid for lost his life after being involved in an altercation with two security guards.

The tragedy occurred around 7 p.m. on Thursday in front of the establishment located on 28e Avenue in the borough of Lachine.
According to what was told to the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), security officers intercepted the thief when he tried to flee without paying. The altercation continued outside and the three men fell to the ground.
The criminal got up shortly after, before falling to the ground again and losing consciousness.
His death was later pronounced.
The investigation was entrusted to the SPVM’s major crimes squad.
