Since November 7, ambulatory patients could only come to the Lachine Hospital emergency room from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., seven days a week. The establishment had deemed the closure necessary due to a critical shortage of staff, including in particular respiratory therapists.

In a press release released Thursday, the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) assures that it will continue “its collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Social Services, and other Montreal establishments to maintain access to health services for the population. of Lachine and the surrounding area”.

Last fall, rallies were organized to protest against the partial inaccessibility of the hospital emergency room.
