Labour wins large majority, early polls show

The result is clear. Labour won the general election on Thursday 4 July by a wide margin, according to initial estimates published by British television. Labour, positioned on the centre-left, would largely exceed the 326 seats needed to have an absolute majority, according to BBC data. The Conservatives, in power for fourteen years, suffered their worst result since the beginning of the 20th century.
