From great classical works to Balinese music, including jazz, film music, music from the Balkans or the Middle East, the Classical Spree will take music lovers on a journey this summer. The festival, which will be held from August 16 to 20, has just unveiled the program for its 10e editing.
The kickoff of the festivities will be given on August 16 on the Esplanade of the Olympic Park when the Orchester symphonique de Montréal and its musical director, Rafael Payare, will offer a free concert. Some of the greatest opera arias will be honored during this evening during which the public will be able to hear the mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard and the violinist Bomsori.
Some 26 concerts will be presented in theaters throughout the festival, including Carmina Burana by Orff. Music lovers can also discover more than a hundred free activities offered in the Quartier des spectacles. Meetings with artists, open-air films and an exhibition of an impressive octobass are notably part of the program.
Tickets for the indoor concerts are on sale now.
