La Teste-de-Buch: one year after the fire, the famous Flots Bleus campsite will reopen

Friday, March 31, the barriers still close access. But from April 1, tourists and locals will be able to see you again enjoy walks on the Teste-de-Buch beach (Gironde). A reopening of the beach and its car park, seven months after the terrible fire which ravaged more than 7,000 hectares. For the ONF, the objective was to clean up and secure access. “We had to redelimit the areas where people will be able to circulate by car and on foot, with the ganivelle, with the restoration of the car parks”.

Still 48 hours of work

Several months of work, in order to welcome walkers as quickly as possible. On the Teste market, the locals are already rejoicing. “We will still be happy to return a little to our region”says a passerby. Another place that regulars will enjoy finding: the Flots Bleus campsite. Destroyed to more than 80% by the fire, a race against the clock had started to open on April 3. It’s won: reservations keep coming. “We had decided to open 50% of the campsite. (…) We have finalized the locations for the cars, for the customers”explains the director of the establishment, Franck Courderc. He There are still 48 hours of intense work for the teams before enjoying a warm reunion with the dune and the customers.
