Without a victory after two matches in the competition, the defending champion was largely reassured by dominating Leicester on Sunday, with no less than seven tries scored.

La Rochelle’s hopes are reborn. After two initial defeats against Leinster and against the Stormers, the Maritimes revived on Sunday January 14 by crushing Leicester at the Marcel-Deflandre stadium (45-12). More pressing, the title holders asphyxiated the Tigers from the start and ideally launched with a try signed Pierre Bourgarit on a carried ball (7-0, 6th). After several minutes of purring in the opposing 22 meters, Will Skelton doubled the lead by coming to flatten with power, coming out of a maul on a touchline close to the goal (14-0, 33rd).

Dominant, the Rochelais did not disperse when George Martin reduced the score (14-7, 38th), even crucifying the English a third time after the siren through Ulupano Seuteni (21-7, 40th+ 3). Returning from the locker room, the superiority of La Rochelle was confirmed with four new achievements, including two tinged with an insolent success: the one marked by Joel Scalvi at 13 against 15 after yellow cards for Will Skelton and Jonathan Danty (35- 7, 59th), followed by an 80-meter rush from Teddy Thomas for his double (40-7, 66th).

Thanks to this demonstration punctuated by seven incursions into the English goal, Stade Rochelais returns to its group by stealing fourth place from Sale, against whom it will be necessary to secure next weekend to reach the knockout phase and defend your trophy.
