Another mother figure for Penélope Cruz

The Spanish actress, who plays in Italian for the occasion, has been collecting the roles of mothers since practically the start of her career. “Even very young, I was entrusted with the roles of mothers,” she remarked during a press conference held on Sunday. “I toured seven times with Pedro [Almodóvar] and I played a mother in five of his films. This is no coincidence, because I am naturally endowed with very strong maternal instincts. The family theme is endless. Whenever I have the opportunity to embody different facets of motherhood, I see it as an honor. »

The story of Other people’s childrenby Rebecca Zlotowski (Grand Central), is however built around the story of a 40-year-old childless woman, played by Virginie Efira, whose biological clock does not leave much time. In love with a man who is already the father of a 5-year-old girl, she takes a liking to her role as stepmother. “This woman realizes that she may not be able to participate in the great collective experience that everyone is talking about, underlined the actress. The notion of transmission can however be realized in another way. We are moving forward, despite everything. I also found it interesting that we approach the role of the mother-in-law through this story. »
