His role as Passe-Carreau in the new version of Master key made her an idol for toddlers, but this summer, she will play one of the most iconic old ladies in Quebec: the actress Gabrielle Fontaine obtained the role of La Poune in the musical theater The Giantess.
The show The Giantess will be presented next summer at the Desjardins Cultural Center in Joliette, and it will highlight the story of Rose Ouellette through the ages. We keep this image of La Poune of a very small elderly lady still full of enthusiasm, but she was only 19 years old when her career as an actress began.
The “freshness” of Gabrielle Fontaine, “her humor, her vivacity, her great talent as an actress-singer and her redheads make her the ideal artist to play our national Poune”, argues the team of the Théâtre de l ‘Oeil Ouvert and Encore show, in a press release.
The show is created by Geneviève Beaudet (author, lyricist, ideator) and Audrey Thériault (composer), while Jade Bruneau will direct it. It was the latter who staged musical theaters Belmontinspired by the work of Diane Dufresne, and La Corriveau – The thirst of the crows.
Simon Fréchette-Daoust, Stéphanie Arav, José Dufour, Philippe Robert, Jade Bruneau, Christian Laporte and Rita Tabbakh will also be part of the cast.
