Lo Diari is originally the associative journal of the Institute of Occitan Studies of the Occitanie/Pyrénées-Méditerranée region (IEO OPM) which still publishes it. It has evolved a lot to become a real cultural magazine in Occitan offering a variety of sections, subjects and points of view: literature, music, cinema, language and society, arts and entertainment, media, sport, new technologies, young audiences
An Occitan-style art gallery
Denis Chapdeuil, editor-in-chief of this magazine, presents “La Galariá”, the first virtual gallery dedicated to Occitan art.
Like museums or exhibitions, “La Galariá” will be open 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
. Since 2020 the PEL (poetic and artistic collective called the PEL (Praxis Escrita Liura) has taken over the pages of the Diari thanks to current, varied creations, which are committed to conveying moments or bursts of the Occitan language. After 2 years, the questions have become more precise, while the answers are still vague.
Thus Lo Diari and the artist Joan Carles Codèrc have decided to go further in this reflection with an innovative project: an online Occitan art gallery, a real space for artistic expression that allows you to admire, share or buy contemporary artistic works that touch us or make us think, around the Occitan language and culture.
La Galaria welcomes works by artists who wish to create in harmony with the lenga nostrawhich here has become an artistic medium… concrete or intangible, in a real quest for meaning that pushes the boundaries of what a language can cover as what makes art. When the words escape us or are no longer enough, when the language flees with time, the only power is to do. Doing to show, doing to question collectively or individually about our culture and its place on the big canvas.
This virtual gallery is visible online on the Lo Diari website
