The parliamentary group of La France insoumise announced, Tuesday October 8 in a press release, that it had pronounced the exclusion of MP Hugo Prevost for “serious acts of a sexual nature which may constitute criminal offenses, prior to his election”. The LFI-NFP parliamentary group says it was alerted on September 23 by its vigilance committee against sexist and sexual violence (CVSS), before hearing the deputy for the 1st constituency of Isère.

After the hearing of the elected official “a delegation mandated by the office of the LFI-NFP parliamentary group”, “it emerged (…) that the seriousness of the alleged acts and their systemic nature required the parliamentary group to be referred to so that it could impose a sanction”, specifies LFI. “Justice can be taken if the people concerned decide and the CVSS is available to support them if necessary,” can we also read in the press release.

The Student Union union, which the MP co-founded, also reacted in a press release. “The testimonies that we have gathered indicate acts of moral and sexual harassment, patterns of predation, serious criminally reprehensible acts of a sexual nature. They extend over a period from 2020 to 2024 and would have continued after the departure of Hugo Prévost of the Student Union national team, last March”writes the union.

Member of the Finance Committee, Hugo Prevost was elected deputy in July 2024 following the legislative elections following the dissolution. The young elected official, aged 25, had beaten the former Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, in the 1st constituency of Isère.
