The animal defense association L214 published, Wednesday December 13, a new investigation into the slaughter of deer for the Christmas holidays. Their videos, filmed at the “La Ferme des Cerfs” breeding farm in Courbeveille, in Mayenne, show animals still conscious after stunning, and which react to bleeding, requiring two people to hold them down.

Furthermore, the videos show wooden installations, dusty and not disinfected. The meat of these young deer is sold “in butcher shops, mainly during the end-of-year holidays, in the form of fresh meat, pâté or rillettes”according to the association’s press release.

L214 announces that it has asked the prefect of Mayenne for the immediate closure of the slaughterhouse, and that it filed a complaint this Wednesday for “ill-treatment” with the prosecutor of the Laval judicial court.
