The L214 association has filed a complaint for abuse against a chicken farm of the LDC food group located in Sarthe, reports France Bleu Maine on Monday evening February 21. In a video published this same Monday, L214 pinpoints this chicken farm of the Le Gaulois brand, in Moncé-en-Saosnois in the north-east of Sarthe, property of the LDC group based in Sablé-sur-Sarthe. The association denounces the lack of space and the genetic selection of poultry.

In this video filmed in a huge hangar, we can see “ten thousand chickens huddled together, living on their own litter which is never changed”, says Léo Le Ster, agri-food campaign manager for L214. The footage also shows corpses and chickens struggling to get up. L214 filed a complaint for mistreatment against this farm and against LDC, as it had done last November after the publication of a similar video in a Mayenne farm of the group in November 2021.

In a press release Monday evening, the poultry giant once again denounces “a montage of shocking images” and evokes words that “offend professionalism and commitment” partner breeders. The group recalls in particular that they are “committed to a process of continuous improvement of animal welfare which will concern 100% of farmers by 2025.” Last November, LDC pointed to “untruths”and insisted on the steps taken.

This new video published by L214 is only a first step. The association wishes to question the presidential candidates on these issues. She will publish one video per day until the opening of the Agricultural Show on Saturday February 26.
