In 2015, Kylian Mbappé
made his professional debut against Stade Malherbe in Caen. Aged only 16 years and 11 months, the young AS Monaco player impressed with his enthusiasm and talent which allowed him, over the years, to become the best French player of our generation. Now a flagship player for Paris-Saint-Germain, the club in which he has been playing since August 31, 2017, and captain of the French team, Kylian Mbappé has become a real star over the years.
But this status completely turned his life upside down, as he told Elise Lucet
. Indeed, the journalist published an extract, this Friday January 5, 2024,
of the next issue ofCorrespondent
, scheduled for January 18. The opportunity to discover a Kylian Mbappé dreaming of becoming “everyman” again at times. “When is that the last time you went to buy a baguette alone on foot?”the journalist asked him before the athlete responded frankly: “Oh… I don’t even know anymore.”.
“I lost spontaneity. »⚽️ From Paris to Cameroon, @KMbappe confides in #Correspondent. His associative commitments, his daily life, his projects but also… what he misses the most. An exceptional interview to discover on January 18! pic.twitter.com/mFiM8ODPia

Kylian Mbappé, not against going incognito
“It’s things that… things that are so simple and that were chores when I was little when my dad told me to go. And I’ll pay so much now to do those kinds of things that seem like nothing to the most people”, he says, almost nostalgic but without having any regrets. And if it were possible for him to have a magic wand to become anonymous for 48 hours, the captain of the French team led by Didier Deschamps knows very well how his day would go: “I will spend my 48 hours outside”.
Besides going out, he would especially “things without thinking”. “I lost spontaneity, the spontaneity of the human being. I want to go out and do something, I do it. Today no, it’s all a question of organization”he regrets before adding: “I will go and eat quietly in a brasserie, go out with friends, party incognito, no one comes to see you. The next morning a good brunch on the terrace in the sun… simple things in life”. Even if he would sometimes like to get back to the simple things in life, he wouldn’t change his for the world and neither would the French supporters.
