Kylian Mbappé, the only Frenchman named among the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine

Kylian Mbappé is thus included in this 2023 ranking of the American magazine, alongside five other athletes: Lionel Messi, Iga Swiatek, Mikaela Shiffrin, Patrick Mahomes and Brittney Griner.

‘More than a footballing genius’. This is how Kylian Mbappé is described by Time Magazine, which unveiled its list of the 100 most influential people in the world, including the new captain of the Blues, Thursday, April 13.

He is the only Frenchman to be mentioned in this list. According to the magazine, which underlines the societal influence of the Parisian by classifying him among the “innovators”Kylian Mbappé carries three values, “respect, humility, and lucidity”. In 2018, after the World Cup, he had already made the front page of the international edition of Time, in an issue devoted to “leaders of tomorrow”.

This list includes five other athletes: footballer Lionel Messi, seven-time Golden Ball winner and World Cup winner, as well as American football player Patrick Mahomes, winner of the Superbowl, both classified in the “titans” category, the player tennis player Iga Swiatek, world number 1 ranked in the “innovators” category; the skier Mikaela Shiffrin, who broke the record for World Cup victories (men and women combined) and who is part of the “pioneers” category and the basketball player Brittney Griner, imprisoned for “possession of narcotics” by Russian justice and released in exchange for prisoners, which takes place in the “icons” category.
