All eyes are on Moscow. Ukraine suspects Russia of having poisoned the wife of the head of Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR), Kyrylo Budanov, a spokesperson for the structure, Andriï Yussov, told AFP. “This is the main hypothesis”he explained, indicating that it was deliberate heavy metal poisoning, “in particular mercury and arsenic”, and not an accident. According to Andriï Yussov, it was indeed Marianna Boudanova and not her husband, who “was the target”. “It is simply impossible to directly reach the commander (Budanov) in this way”he estimated.

Marianna Boudanova was hospitalized “more than a week ago”, added the spokesperson. However, it is impossible for the moment to establish the exact date of the poisoning because “the attack may have been prolonged over time”, argued the spokesperson. He confirmed press information according to which traces of heavy metals had also been discovered at “several” collaborators of military intelligence, without giving details.

Analyzes revealed that she had traces of heavy metals in her body which “are not used in everyday life or in military affairs”. A source within the police, cited by the website Ukraïnska Pravda, specified that Marianna Boudanova was feeling better and had finished “the first stage of treatment”.
