Ukraine affirmed on Thursday February 1 that it had “destroy” in the night a missile launcher belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, while it was patrolling off the coast of Crimea. Moscow did not react officially, but a Telegram channel close to the Russian army reported a ship “damaged”.
Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) said it managed to “to flow” star Ivanovets in the area of Lake Donouzlav, on the west coast of Crimea, a peninsula annexed by Moscow. “Due to a number of direct impacts on the hull, the Russian ship suffered damage making any movement impossible“specified the GUR on Telegram.
Ukrainian successes in the Black Sea
Dating from 1989 and 56 meters long, this star is equipped in particular with four Moskit supersonic anti-ship cruise missile launch systems, according to a website of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. In recent months, Ukraine has defeated a reputedly much more powerful Russian fleet, managing to keep its ships away from the southwest of the Black Sea. Crimea, annexed by Russia in 2014, is a favored target for Ukraine because it is very important for the logistics of the Russian army.
