kyiv claims to have struck a Russian refinery located 500 km from its border

Ukraine regularly carries out attacks or sabotage against factories, railways or refineries on Russian territory. But it is rare for a strike to hit infrastructure so far from the border. However, it was indeed a refinery, in the Ryazan region, nearly 500 kilometers from the border, which was targeted by a drone attack on the night of Tuesday April 30 at Wed.Tuesday May 1st. “Ryazan Oblast was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle. According to preliminary information, there were no casualties, an investigation is underway.”confirmed on Telegram regional governor Pavel Malkov.

According to the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, which cites sources close to the special services, the operation was carried out by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry (HUR).

This new attack took place against a backdrop of tensions with Washington which in recent months has criticized, according to media reports, kyiv’s strikes against energy installations located on Russian soil and asked it to put an end to them. Operated by the Russian oil company Rosneft, the Ryazan refinery, which is located around 190 km southeast of Moscow, was already the target of a drone attack on March 13.
