The Ukrainian security services claimed on Monday, August 8, to have foiled two assassination attempts against the Minister of Defense, Oleksiï Reznikov, and the head of Ukrainian military intelligence, Kyrylo Boudanov. the SBU (Security Service of Ukraine) also said to have neutralized several of its alleged organizers.
On its Telegram account, the SBU announced that it had “arrested Russian secret service killers who planned the assassinations of Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov”. He broadcast a video of these arrests, on which we see an armed group knocking down and handcuffing two men in civilian clothes who are heading towards a car.
The arrest of these two men, one of whom arrived from Russia in Ukraine via Belarus, took place in Kovel, in the north-west of the Ukrainian territory. According to the SBU, those arrested were preparing “physical liquidation” of these two senior Ukrainian defense officials as well as a “known Ukrainian activist” whose name he does not mention.
