There are footballers who become famous for their exploits on the pitch and others who become famous for the wrong reasons. French international and centerpiece of the West Ham team in the English championship, Kurt Zouma is not a football star, but since last February, everyone knows his name, but not necessarily for the right reasons… On February 8, a video published on social networks begins to make a lot of noise. Above, we see the 27-year-old Frenchman kicking his cat and mistreating it.
An attitude that caused a scandal and Kurt Zouma quickly became a real pariah, whistled by his own supporters. Owner of two cats, they will quickly be taken away from him before being placed in the SPA while waiting to find them another family. An investigation was then opened by the British courts and on May 24, the defender of the Blues was heard by the court of Thames Magistrates. He pleads guilty to mistreating his pet and a week later, the verdict has just fallen in this case. Alphonse Areola’s teammate has just been sentenced to 180 hours of community service, which comes with a ban on owning a cat for five years.
His brother Yoan also sanctioned by justice
Kurt Zouma was found guilty on two counts: unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and alleged breach of duty to protect animals. A heavy penalty for the player therefore and which comes on top of the huge fine imposed by West Ham in February. His brother John was also tried in this case for having filmed the scene without intervening and he was fined 140 hours of community service.
The case surrounding Kurt Zouma now seems over. If he never wanted to speak on this case and he has remained silent on his social networks since then, the footballer now knows his sanction and will pay for the fault he committed.
