Kruger union members in Trois-Rivières adopt a strike mandate

(Montreal) Union members at the Kruger factory in Trois-Rivières have just given themselves a strike mandate to exercise at the appropriate time.

There are 300 workers, members of local sections of the large Unifor union, which is affiliated with the FTQ. Support for the strike ranges from 99.3% to 100% in these locals.

Salaries are the main point in dispute.

The Unifor bargaining committee says it made the decision to request this strike mandate “after a day and a half of unsuccessful negotiations on monetary issues with the employer.”

He reports that he himself broke off negotiations on February 7, believing that “there was no more progress possible” without increasing pressure on the employer.

The employer had not yet commented at the time of writing.
