After an All Stars edition without a winner, the famous survival game is making a comeback, to the delight of viewers. This Tuesday, February 22, 2022, TF1 is broadcasting the very first episode of Koh-Lanta, The Cursed Totem. Direction the Philippines with Denis Brogniart and twenty-four adventurers, twelve women and twelve men, confronted with particularly difficult living conditions. Summary of this first episode which sets the tone of the season!
First trial and cursed jewels
Meet on a boat where everyone gets to know each other. And while they have not even arrived on earth yet, here they are facing Denis Brogniart who announces a first individual test. A game that will define the rest of the adventure. If the best of men and the best of women will have a size advantage, the curse of the cursed totem will fall on the last man and the last woman. The two losers will have to wear a bracelet and at each council where they wear it, an additional vote against them will be noted. Bad luck that will last until the reunification council included. You have to win, but above all not lose…
The test is played in several stages. First, you have to jump off this banka, a typical Filipino boat where they are, to get to the beach. In the middle of the ocean, two wooden trunks that must be brought back with them. Inside, everyone has a piece of wood with their first name. It will be the last piece of a puzzle to be put together.
The group is progressing well in swimming. Stéphanie, last in the water, is helped by Fouzi. Yannick is also in difficulty. All end up arriving on the beach and embark on the rest of the event. The big winner is Alexandra! She is followed by Jean-Philippe. Other comrades follow and it is finally Lili and Yannick who arrive last. They then each inherit a cursed bracelet. New precision on this jewel: if the holders are eliminated, they must pass it on to a member of the team who will then suffer the same consequences. For their part, Alexandra and Jean-Philippine are captains of tribes. Another advantage for the two winners: appointing the leader of a third team! It will be Celine.
Composition of the teams
Alexandra is the head of the blue team, the Nacpan. It is composed as follows: Maxime, Fouzi, Colin, Olga, Geraldine, Samira, Benjamin.
Jean-Philippe is the head of the green team, the Ilog. It is composed as follows: François, Pauline, Amber, Nicolas, Franck, Louanna, Lili.
Celine is the head of the purple team, the Turung. It is composed as follows: Yannick, Bastien, Jean-Charles, Anne-Sophie, Setha, Stephanie, Matteo.
Matteo, last chosen, burst into tears. This place breaks his heart. But he intends to regain confidence quickly, thanks and with his teammates.
Denis Brogniart makes a new announcement that disturbs adventurers: there will be no rice ! However, each team has bamboo to form a raised floor in order to protect themselves, especially at night, from the snakes that live on the island.
Each team takes its marks. Among the blues, Alexandra takes up too much space and is already annoying some comrades, like Samira or Benjamin. Ditto with the violets, where Yannick and Bastien remain perplexed as to Celine’s orders. On the green side, Lili finds a root that looks like cassava. Please note, this is actually wild taro, inedible and above all very stinging if not boiled for a long time. Franck plays it taster and regrets it bitterly!
First night on the camps. Big surprise among the greens! Nicolas discovers centipede in bed ! “I had it on me, it scratched me“, he says. The rest of the night is not more restful: driving rain is falling. The fireman François fell on a snake when he wanted to relieve himself. Neither one nor two, he brandished his machete and put an end to the animal’s life.
Immunity test
The three tribes meet for a first immunity test. There will only be one winning team. The other two will go to the council and the one who arrived last will face a terrible curse.
It is during a classic of Koh Lanta they confront each other: rubber bands. The eight members of a tribe are connected to the same rubber band. They must show cohesion, strength and coordination to recover nine wooden witnesses planted in the sand at different distances. The games are tight between the three teams at the start of the event. The purples are a little behind while the blues and greens are neck and neck. The blues, worn by Maxime, finally win the victory ! Purples come second and greens last.
The sentence falls immediately: surprise advice for the greens! Everyone votes and Denis Brogniart launches into the counting: one vote against Pauline, eight votes against Lili who is then eliminated. She passes on her cursed bracelet to Pauline.
Back on their camp, the purples discuss strategy before the council. Anne-Sophie, Jean-Charles, Yannick and Stéphanie think about eliminating Céline. In fear of a necklace, the footballer’s wife evokes the hypothesis of eliminating Setha. For her part, the captain believes that the most in danger are Mattéo, Setha or even Stéphanie.
Yannick publicly admits wanting to vote against Céline who is the one who “the least well off” on the test. She appreciates the frankness but bursts into tears. She goes in search of an immunity necklace. Without success. But Setha has an idea: she will make the group believe that her comrade has found the Holy Grail in order to steer the votes elsewhere.
The blues are faced with a ant invasion at their camp. No other choice but to move a few meters further. Fouzi sprinkles the anthill with seawater, hoping to scare away the insects.

They are eight and will leave at seven. Everyone votes and Denis Brogniart proceeds to the counting. No immunity collar is announced. Céline has four votes against her, Stéphanie and Setha have two. Yannick’s first name also came out once, due to his cursed bracelet. It is therefore Céline who is eliminated.
Before leaving, she indicates that her team will regret this choice. In particular because she believes that it is Stephanie who should have been eliminated. Annoyed, the Parisian croupier replies that she has been busy on the camp all day while Céline “did absolutely nothing for the camp“. Already a settling of accounts in this seemingly tight-knit team…
