Knife attack on bus leaves five injured in Germany

The prognosis of life of three of the five victims is engaged. The suspect has been arrested and there is no evidence of a “terrorist attack”, according to the police.

A 32-year-old woman stabbed several people on a bus in Siegen, western Germany, local police said Friday, August 30. Five people were injured, and three of the five victims are in critical condition. Another person was seriously injured and a fifth was slightly injured.

The suspect was arrested and there is no evidence to suggest that she was “terrorist attack”, according to the police statement. “There is currently no further danger”assures the same source. At the time of the events, around 7:40 p.m., “At least 40 other passengers were on the bus that was heading to the Siegen city festival.”she said.

The attack comes at a time when Germany is still reeling from the Solingen attack. At a local festival seven days ago, a Syrian man attacked a crowd with a knife, killing three people and injuring eight. On Tuesday, police shot dead a man suspected of attacking passers-by with knives in Moers, in the west of the country. Interior Minister Nancy Faeser announced on Thursday a ban on carrying knives at public gatherings and on long-distance transport.
