A knife attack has left at least eight people injured in Southport, north of Liverpool (United Kingdom), the local ambulance service announced on the social network X, Monday July 29. The emergency services intervened after being alerted “at 11:48”hurrying “13 ambulances” and doctors on site. “So far we have treated eight stabbing patients, who have been taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Aintree University Hospital and Southport and Formby Hospital.”the ambulance service said.
“A man was arrested and a knife seized”Merseyside Police said on social media site X. “There is no further threat to the public.” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said: “horrified and deeply shocked” by the attack at Southport. “My thoughts are with all those affected,” he added in a message posted on X.
According to the BBC, the attack took place near a dance and yoga workshop for children. Police have not yet given details on the motive for the attack.
