(Paris) An assailant stabbed a man to death and injured another on Saturday evening in 15e district of Paris and allegedly shouted “Allah akbar” before being arrested, we learned from a police source.
The perpetrator of the fatal blows was “born in France” and is “French,” the source said. The injured person was taken care of by the Paris firefighters.
The assailant was known to have psychiatric problems and said he could not stand seeing Muslims being killed around the world, according to a police source.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin is expected there.
“The police have just courageously arrested an assailant attacking passers-by in Paris, around the Quai de Grenelle. One person died and one injured person treated by Paris firefighters. Please avoid the sector,” the minister wrote on the X network.
A security cordon has been set up not far from the Eiffel Tower, noted an AFP journalist
