These are objects that are no longer made in Europe, which were massively imported from Asia. Claudia Calcina worked at the Ministry of Agriculture. It was when she couldn’t find what she needed that she had the idea of starting her own business: “I needed a parasol to go to the beach with my young children. I wanted to buy quality products that look like me, that they are pretty, that they are resistant. I I am confronted with the reality of the market. These products are really very low-end, break at the first gust of wind and protect us very little from the sun’s rays”, says Claudia Calcina.
It will therefore be Klaoos, launched in 2018. Textiles are made from plastic bottles or textile waste. But everything is made locally. We had to find suppliers, assemble, become industrial. But the reception given to her products surprises her. Quite simply because such products did not exist on the market. Klaoos now sells its umbrellas, beach and garden umbrellas beyond our borders. The objective, from its Bordeaux headquarters, is to have everything manufactured in France.
