Assyrtiko is one of the most unique grape varieties. Originally from Santorini, it is now grown in several regions — and elsewhere in the world, where it is prized for its ability to retain acidity in hot climates.

It gives wines with little fruit, marked by mineral and saline notes. This one comes from vineyards at an altitude of 700 m, in the Florina region.

A little fruitier than those of Santorini, with aromas of citrus fruits and peach, it is revealed on the palate with substance and a lot of freshness. To be enjoyed with grilled fish, with a drizzle of olive oil, herbs and lemon.

Kir-Yianni Assyrtiko Florina 2020, $18.20 (13990592), 13.5%
