Mikaël Kingsbury completed a World Cup double at Idre Fjall in Sweden, winning the dual moguls event on Saturday.
The athlete from Deux-Montagnes had won the moguls the day before, on the heels of a third place in the season opener in Ruka, Finland.
On Saturday, Kingsbury defeated Rasmus Stegfelt of Sweden in the final.
“I’ve had a few doubles in my career but this one is special, especially since the Swedes are strong at the moment,” Kingsbury said.
He has 82 career wins and 118 podiums at the World Cup.
Bronze went to the Japanese Ikuma Horishima, at the expense of the Swede Walter Wallberg.
“Walter beat me in Val St-Côme (in January), so I had that little extra motivation against him in the semi-final,” Kingsbury said.
Louis-David Chalifoux of Quebec finished sixth, in his first full World Cup season.
Elliott Vaillancourt, from Drummondville, and Julien Viel, from Quebec, advanced to the round of 16.
Kingsbury and his team traveled to Idre Fjall in early November for a training camp.
Olympic champion in 2018 in Pyeongchang, Kingsbury has 10 World Cup titles in moguls, including three doubles in moguls and dual moguls.
Kingsbury is entering his 15th season at the World Cup. At 31, he is the oldest on the men’s side.
“It took me a little time to find my rhythm (Saturday), said the Quebecer. But when I open the jets, I’m the fastest.
“No duel has been easy, because the guys are able to push me (to my best). I just have to stay relaxed, let things come to me and continue to trust my instincts. »
Kingsbury was dominant last season, with two Worlds gold medals and three World Cup crystal globes.
The December mogul schedule also includes stops at Alpe d’Huez, France and Bakuriani, Georgia.
Val Saint-Côme, in Lanaudière, will host events on January 19 and 20.
