Phillip Danault’s name was added to the Los Angeles Kings’ COVID-19 roster on Sunday.
The Kings now have three players directly and indirectly inconvenienced by COVID. This is the case for defenseman Drew Doughty as well as goalkeeper Cal Petersen.
Danault, the team’s second center, has scored 4 goals and had 10 assists in 29 games this season.
In the Kings’ last game on Saturday against the Hurricanes, he was paired with Alex Iafallo and Viktor Arvidsson, center of the second line.
Cal Petersen was reportedly starting Sunday night against the Capitals as the team play two games in two days, but he joined COVID-19 protocol on Saturday.
Garret Sparks has been recalled as a backup, and is expected to face the Caps in Washington on Sunday. Sparks has not appeared in an NHL game since October 2019.
