A rumor has contaminated social networks: that of the death of the King of England. But then, how did this false information spread? It all started on Monday March 18. Very early in the morning, an account X (formerly Twitter), based in Washington (United States), published: “My sources have just confirmed to me the death of King Charles III“, accompanied by a text attributed to Buckingham Palace. But this document was in reality a fake. Despite this, it was widely distributed. In Russia, the rumor was even relayed by the media.
The rumor does not die down
Although corrections have since been published, many Internet users add arguments to support the false information, forcing several British embassies to write denials of the death of Charles III. But false information, propelled by Russian networks, continues to fuel fantasies surrounding the state of health of the King of England.
