(Montreal) Montreal’s Kim Clavel will face Mexico’s Yesica Nery Plata in a fight for the world unification of the light flyweight category, on 1er December, at Place Bell in Laval.

Clavel (16-0, 3 KOs) won the World Boxing Council title last July by defeating defending champion Yesenia Gomez (19-5-3) by 10-round unanimous decision.
Plata, 28, won her WBA belt in her last fight, March 11 in Panama, in a 10-round decision victory over Argentine champion Yesica Bopp (37-2, 17 K. -O.).
A former WBC youth light flyweight champion, the Mexican won the interim WBA light flyweight championship in 2018, winning a decision over Silvia Torres (18-0-1). She successfully defended that interim WBA title against Alondra Garcia (20-3-1) the following year.
Plate is currently ranked at the top of the light flyweight division by independent organization Boxrec.com as well as sixth in the world pound for pound. Clavel meanwhile ranks third at 108 pounds and 21e all divisions combined.
The 31-year-old boxer from Joliette believes that this is a challenge worthy of her ambitions.

For her part, Plata (28-2, 3 KOs) is not intimidated by the fact that she will have to play this important fight on hostile ground.
