Sherbrooke resident Kim Boutin won a third silver medal in as many individual events at the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships, held at the Maurice-Richard Arena.
Boutin finished behind South Korea’s Choi Minjeong in Sunday’s 1,000 meters final. Dutch Xandra Velzeboer won bronze.
New Brunswicker Courtney Sarault crashed on the last lap trying to pass South Korean Seo Whimin for third place. Sarault was penalized, while Seo eventually took fourth place.
On Saturday, Boutin, a four-time Olympic medalist, finished second in Saturday’s 1,500-metre and 500-metre finals. On the men’s side, Montrealer Pascal Dion won silver in the 1,500 metres.

Montrealer Pascal Dion became world vice-champion in short track speed skating.
Fourth in the general classification before the presentation of the 3000 meters super-final, Dion climbed two steps by winning this ultimate event.
The Hungarian Liu Shaoang was already guaranteed to win a second world crown in a row, after winning the 500, 1000 and 1500 meters.
South Korean Lee June Seo completed the podium in the overall standings.
The relay finals were also on the schedule on Sunday. Charles Hamelin was scheduled to race with the Canadian team in what will be his last career race.
