Killed after calling the police: a 61-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her nephew in Laval

A 61 year old woman was allegedly stabbed to death in Laval by her 30-year-old nephew after calling the police for the first time late Thursday afternoon to ask the police for help.

“She called me crying [un peu avant 17h30] from the toilet to tell me she was scared. I told her to stay hidden and that I was coming,” says André Morin, the ex-partner of Mireille Martin, who was killed last night, in tears.

An hour before, the 61-year-old woman who was an administrative assistant wrote to him by message: “if you can come sooner with the police. I told Jérôme that he must stay down, but he still comes up.”

These will be the last written exchanges he will have had with the woman with whom he shared 15 years of his life.

Around 4:30 p.m., Mme Martin called the police explaining that he was afraid of his 30-year-old nephew, Jérôme Frigault, who lives in the apartment below his house, said the neighbor and friend as well as the victim’s ex-spouse.

“There were two police tanks, paramedics and firefighters. They stayed a little and then they left,” explains Aline Breault, neighbor of Mme Martin.

An hour after

Barely an hour later, that’s when Mireille Martin called her ex-spouse and friend to ask him to come quickly. He was the one who called the police to come again.

Drama was about to happen.

“I saw Mireille come out of the back of her house in tears and I saw her fall as if dead in the middle of the street, in front of my house,” breathes Jacline Brunet, her neighbor for more than 12 years, completely shocked.

“I saw between six and eight police officers holding Jérôme on the ground in front of the house and he was shouting at them: “Kill me! Kill me!”, continues Aline Breault.

The suspect, who allegedly killed his aunt with a knife, was arrested and sent to a hospital to be evaluated.

Questions arise

For meme Breault, it is clear that the first movement of the police raises questions when his neighbor lost his life only a few minutes later.

“I don’t understand how she could have called for help and it ended like that… It’s horrible,” adds Mme Breault.

According to André Morin, the nephew of Mme Martin did not appear to have any mental health issues.

“They had no problems. They got along well,” explains the man who has known him for more than ten years.
