Restos du Cœur: kickoff of the annual collection in supermarkets
(France 2)
80,000 volunteers from Restos du Cœur should be mobilized in France this weekend of March 2 and 3 for the association’s collection.
In the four corners of the country, solidarity is expressed at the entrance to supermarkets. Les Restos du Cœur is calling on the generosity of customers for their annual collection. In a supermarket, many people responded to help the most vulnerable on Friday March 1st. All weekend, the association’s volunteers will be on deck. Most have been involved for many years.
12% of the year’s in-kind donations collected on average
These three days of collection are crucial for the association. It collects on average 12% of the year’s in-kind donations. “Without this collection, we cannot help the people we welcome all year round. From April onwards, the shelves are empty, so without the collection, we cannot make it through to next winter’s campaign”, explains a volunteer. The Restos du Cœur hope to collect 9,000 tonnes of donations throughout the country. Last year, the association welcomed 1.3 million people.
