The footballer Kheira Hamraoui announces Wednesday June 7 on France Inter of her “sadness and his anger” after learning that she was not on the preliminary list of the French women’s team coach Hervé Renard for the next World Cup. The player will therefore not fly to Australia and New Zealand this summer to defend the tricolor colors, which she lives “like an injustice”.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player has already worn the jersey of the French team, during 39 selections. “Experiencing a World Cup is everyone’s dream, whether you’re on the pitch or on the bench”, says Kheira Hamraoui. She had just “in the line of sight to make this World Cup”. “That’s what has kept me going for the past two years”, insists the footballer attacked in November 2021 in the Yvelines. Two hooded men had hit her on the legs with iron bars, as she was returning by car with her former Parisian teammate Aminata Diallo. The latter was indicted in September for “aggravated violence” and “criminal association”, but part of the Parisian locker room had turned against Kheira Hamraoui, accusing him of having directed the investigators to Aminata Diallo. Five other people are indicted in this case.
“As long as I played football, I would believe in it until the end”
In her book “Kheira à contre-pied” which comes out on Wednesday as well as on France Inter, she recounts having suffered after her attack a “cyberbullying and media harassment”. “I was dirtied, humiliated, dragged through the mud and it hurt me more than my aggression”, deplores the footballer. She still wonders “how [elle] was able to withstand all these pressures” : “The goal was to bring me down, that I leave Paris Saint-Germain but I fought with all my might”, indicates the midfielder who left the Parisian club at the end of May. She also points the finger at the attitude of some supporters who have “insulted” during each of his appearances on the field.
Nearly two years later, Kheira Hamraoui considers that he is still suffering the consequences of this affair. “Not seeing my name on the list [des présélectionnées pour le Mondial]it hurt me because the coach said he would only judge on the sportsman and I sincerely think “ that this was not the case, regrets the player. Kheira Hamraoui, however, remains hopeful of postponing the blue jersey one day: “As long as I played football, I would believe in it until the end”, she insists. For the time being, she does not plan to evolve in a French club: playing in France “has been very hard and I need a healthy environment”explains the former player of PSG and Barcelona.
