The television tower in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city, was destroyed on Monday April 22 after a Russian strike which caused no casualties, regional authorities informed, announcing the interruption of the signal. This 240 m high structure collapsed halfway up, noted an AFP journalist.

“The occupiers attacked a television infrastructure in Kharkiv. During the alert, the employees hid. There were no casualties”, for his part specified the regional governor, Oleg Synegoubov. He reported “interruptions in the signal for digital television”.

The TV tower was previously damaged by an attack in March 2022, at the start of the Russian invasion. The city of Kharkiv, where more than 1.4 million people lived before the war, has been increasingly targeted by Russian forces in recent weeks. Its energy infrastructure was notably targeted, causing major power outages at the end of March.
