“I was a builder, dishwasher, waiter, window cleaner…” Today, Khaby Lame is the second most followed Tiktoker in the world. Brut found him on the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival 2022, for an interview about his life.
Khaby Lame was born in Senegal and grew up in a “HLM in Via Toglatti”, in Italy. Today, he has nearly 130 million subscribers on the Tik-Tok social network, while he has never spoken in a single one of his videos.
“Before confinement, I had two jobs. During the day, I was a bricklayer. In the evening, waiter-dishwasher. It was like that for two years”. As he loses his job due to confinement, Khaby Lame discovers Tik-Tok and starts posting content.
“I never pay attention to the numbers, the number of views. It does not interest me”explains the content creator.
“My whole life has been difficult. I wish the best to everyone and I advise not to stop at the first obstacle”.
Khaby Lame is currently a member of the jury of the “TikTok Short Film”, a short film competition of the Cannes Film Festival 2022.
