Kev Adams: A famous tennis player put money into ‘Retirement home’

Kev Adams is back in theaters with the movie Retirement home, in which he replies to a five-star cast from Gérard Depardieu to Daniel Prévost via Marthe Villalonga. A very popular personality, the young 30-year-old artist who co-signed the screenplay nevertheless had a great scare on this project: a financier ran off along the way! Fortunately, he received invaluable help.

Long questioned by the newspaper The Parisian, Kev Adams spoke about this glitch that occurred during the preparation of this comedy recently presented at the Alpe d’Huez Festival. “This film is the first that I have co-written. It’s a comedy with a real social background, a project that is really close to my heart. However, in January 2020, when we had already recruited almost all the actors, the financier let us go. It’s a catastrophe“, he says. But, by force of chance, he receives at the same time the phone call from his friend, the tennis player Stan Wawrinka: “There, Stan calls me and I tell him. So he said to me: ‘I will lend you the money!’ I send him the script, he loves it… Within twenty-four hours, he had sent the money and had become an associate producer. Stan is the savior of the film: without him, nothing would have been possible.

Stan Wawrinka, a 36-year-old Swiss player who notably won Roland-Garros in 2015 and the US Open in 2016, was delighted to be able to help. “As a friend [ils se sont rencontrés une première fois en 2017, lors du tournoi parisien, NDLR] it was obvious for me to help Kev. And then I got into this adventure. I have the chance to travel often, to meet a lot of people and I have friends in the cinema, French or American. I love it, I watch a lot of movies all the time“, specifies for his part the sportsman.

During his career, the player has accumulated the very tidy sum of 34 million dollars in earnings. Plenty of money to invest in projects he likes. It remains to keep an eye on the box office of this film directed by Thomas Gilou which should attract people.
